Capacity Constraints

The Challenge

Our clients' rapidly growing e-commerce apparel business had capacity constraints in their DC, as well as with a 3PL partner. This created longer lead times for PO’s, increased transportation and operational costs, while often missing key target dates which impacted sales and customer satisfaction.


The MITCO solution was focused on three main components, Technology, KPI’s and Process. Utilizing the MITCO PO Management system with automated data feeds, with improved processes, defined KPI’s and real time reporting, we created the vision the client found compelling.

MITCO Solution

MITCO designed a single source Managed Solution from vendors dock to clients door with same day receiving and shipping KPI’s. Electronic PO data mapping from clients ERP systems provided PO receipts, and ASN’s in a single process. Operations documented improved SOP’s, and committed a distribution footprint to meet volumes and requirements. While the transportation team sourced and contracted multiple carriers for all lanes, with delivery KPI’s including stringent appointment requirements

The Results

MITCO’s Managed Solution, being accountable for all legs of the supply chain, and commitment to the KPI’s, along with systems developed to the client requirements, delivered the required improvements.

  • Visibility- From on the vendors dock, through delivery to the warehouse the client was able to have visibility to inventory flow from a single portal
  • Operational Performance- With real time performance reporting through the client has the ability to not only see results of completed deliveries, but also to the live activity on the floor. This resulted in numerous days removed from the supply chain.
  • Flexibility- Using interactive portal, the client was able to prioritize hot items, PO’s and shipments, all the way through delivery.
  • Costs- By moving to a single source solution, eliminating delays and needing to expedite shipments, the MITCO solution delivered a lower Total Landed Cost.
As a result, our client now has the speed to market it needs in a more reliable operating platform to keep up with its buyers and customers’ demands and to ensure efficiency and dependable supply chain.
